Saturday Ramblings

Saturday Ramblings

Good morning and happy Saturday.  Do your best to enjoy the day the Lord has given you. Never forget, each day is a gift.  It is something that we should treasure and use it to its fullest.  Furthermore, it expires at midnight, so use it wisely.

Don’t forget to get up at 2 am to set your clocks back one hour. I wonder if anyone actually does that? Or, do the smart thing, set the clocks before you go to bed.  Don’t make the mistake I have made by setting a device that is designed to change automatically.  I ended up with a two hour difference.  Oops.  It is an interesting concept that we get to set the clock back so that we get one more hour to enjoy this weekend. Of course, the payback is that your internal body clock will be messed up for at least another week.

Can you imagine if we could turn back time? I know there are things I would love to do differently.  There are conversations I would change, things I wouldn’t say, things I wouldn’t have done.  I would play catch with my son more, I would spend more time with my daughters. I would have been more intentional about not being a workaholic. I would have sought to be more effective in advancing the Gospel.  But, the reality is that you don’t get to turn back the clock.  What you can do is to learn from your past and seek to change to pursue the things that truly are important.  I believe it is good to evaluate your life and to make adjustments as needed.

As a goal-oriented person, it has been far too easy to “live in the future” as I pursued a variety of things.  In doing so, to miss out on the “here and now” and the moments that matter.

13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” (James 4:13-15)

May God guide each of us as we seek to live this life for His glory and honor.

From our neighborhoods to the nations,

Pastor Larry
