Saturday Ramblings

Saturday Ramblings

Good morning and happy frigid Saturday.  It feels like the middle of November this weekend.  Even saw some snow flakes when I was out and about yesterday.

I don’t know if you saw the news, but Glen de Vries died in a plane crash yesterday.  It’s not surprising if you don’t recognize the name. I didn’t until I read the story. He was a billionaire businessman that had the unique opportunity to fly on the brief “space” flight that William Shatner of Star Trek fame was on.  The flew on the Blue Origen flight that took place almost a month ago.  It is part of the push to open space flight to civilian passengers.  It is not disclosed how much he had to pay for his seat on that flight, but it probably was more than the points back on your Southwest Card.

De Vries is quoted as saying, “I’ve been passionate about aviation and space for as long as I can remember, so this flight is truly a dream come true.”  And one month later, he died in a private plane crash.  When I first read that I thought that is amazing. He was able to accomplish one of his life’s dreams and then, soon after, he passed away.

One thing that we are always reminded is that we are not guaranteed another day. We typically don’t know when our last day will be. We do take confidence knowing that God knows every day of our life before the first one began. It is also a reminder that we should pursue our dreams while we can.  Sometimes, we put off a lot of things, some very important, thinking we will get to them some day.  However, we try not to think about the possibilities that life really is uncertain.

I am reminded of what God’s Word tells us about King David in the book of Acts. It informs us that David served God’s purpose in his life, and then he died.

Let us all seek to live our lives for the glory of God. Treasure each day.  Don’t procrastinate on the things that are truly important. Pursue God’s purpose for your life. This is the day the Lord has made…let us seek to use it wisely.

May God bless and guide you as you pursue His will in your life.
