Saturday Rambling

Saturday Rambling

Good morning, and welcome to April.  Sometimes, people use April 1st, also known as April Fool’s Day, to pull pranks or jokes on others. As much as I enjoy that kind of thing, today I have a serious prayer request.  If you have seen some of my posts lately,  the situation in Haiti is rather dire. We have been working with brother Jacques to try to get the kids and staff out of the Port au Prince area and to a safer location. We were able to secure a suitable home several hours away.

Unfortunately,  Jacques has not found anyone willing to risk coming into his current area to transport the kids or any of their things.  Please pray that someone would decide to help soon and that God would protect them throughout the move.  Sadly, it is risky to travel through Port au Prince, and it is dangerous to stay where they are at.  Please pray that God would continue to lead them and protect them as He has done thus far.

Here is part of a recent article from Fox News describing the situation in Port au Prince:
Haitian gangs have turned to extreme measures with atrocities akin to those reported during the genocide in Rwanda, according to a Haitian doctor in an interview from his home in the capital city of Port-au-Prince.

Lawlessness, torture, civil war and “The Purge” were all used to describe what the reality looks like for people living within the western borders on the island of Hispaniola.

“Even staying in your house, you don’t feel safe. What you see is people walking in the street with big guns. Guns like it is a war scene, they have M-16s, AK-47s, Galils. They have grenades, they have smoke, they have everything,” the doctor, who wished to remain anonymous due to security concerns, told Fox News Digital.

There are many other articles out there that detail the murders, violence, rape and kidnappings. Several people have been killed, and others have been kidnapped in the area of the orphanage. The sounds of gunfire have become a regular occurrence at the orphanage. It is a scary and stressful time for all of them. The need for prayers is evident. Thank you!
