Good morning and happy icy, snowy Saturday. Looks to be a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Make yourself a cup of coffer or cocoa and catch up on your Bible reading plan.
The other day I was at our gym and noticed a new sign that said, “Whatever you are be a good one.” It’s kind of an interesting statement if you think about it. I guess if you took this to the extreme, if you are a car thief or a cattle rustler the challenge would be to be a good one. Although, I am not quite sure that is what they had in mind. I am sure that it is something that someone else put on Pinterest and they printed it and put it on this little sign. Nevertheless, it can be used for some good advice. Speaking of good, Jesus asked a guy, “Why do you call me good? None is good but God alone.” That man likely didn’t understand that Jesus was the Son of God. Anyway, if God is our frame of reference, then that helps us in our quest. “to be a good one” would then imply that it would be relative to God and His Word. Perhaps a better way of understanding it would be to say, “Whatever you are do so for the glory of God.” In reality, that is supposed to be our Christian life. Everything that we are, all that we do, is to be for His glory and honor. If you are a teacher, a business person, a cook, a student, etc. do it for God. If you are an introvert, and extrovert, whatever talents and skills you may have, do it all for the glory of God. Whatever spiritual gifts you have been given by God, use them to build up the body of Christ and magnify His name.
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters…Colossians 3:23
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
Just one thing: Live your life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ…Philippians 1:27
As you live your life for Christ, do the best that you can to do just that – live for Him.
May God bless and guide you in all things.
Larry
