Good morning and happy Saturday. I hope that you are still rejoicing about the incredible Easter weekend that we had. God truly blessed us with wonderful services on Good Friday and Easter. The activities on Saturday were good as well. To do two baptisms and have several decisions was nothing short of amazing. We praise God for what He is doing. I pray that it continues this Sunday as we plan to baptize once again.
Michelle and I were out running errands on Friday afternoon. We were stopped at an intersection when we saw a van pull up. We noticed that it was really dirty and had mud splashed on the front. The side we could see was dented and the lower portion of the body was rusting through. On the upper side of the van it had advertising for the business. In big letters it said, “Carpet Cleaning.” My first thought was that it would be ironic for that van to roll up in front of your house to clean anything. Obviously, not every business can afford brand new vans. The last 12 months has been tough for many small businesses. However, it you are going to advertise for a cleaning service, it might be a good idea to at least clean the vehicle you are advertising on.
But, enough about that. What about us? Sometimes we think it is a good idea to have the fish symbol or some sticker on our car identifying us as Christians. However, it is easy to forget it is there when we are stuck in traffic, in a hurry, or someone cuts us off. It may cause people to have a similar reaction that I had when I saw the carpet cleaning van. Personally, when it is known that we are followers of Jesus, what do people observe about us? Are the actions that people see in our lives consistent with our Christian faith? In a world that is increasingly skeptical about Christianity, let’s do our best to not give them additional reasons to doubt.
Let your light so shine before men that they see your good works and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
Hope to see you tomorrow.
