Good morning from the nation’s capital,
I hope that you had a great week and are excited about what God is doing in your life.
On the journey across the country, I was reminded once again about the beauty of God’s creation. As you travel through the plains and then make you ascent up the mountains, the views are incredible. I have always enjoyed seeing the forests, rivers and rolling hills. It is quite nice. One thing that is always interesting is that most little towns you pass by, there is a church or churches that are visible even from the highway. The church once played a very prominent role in the life of the people. In some towns, it was the center of most of their activities. That certainly has changed in modern society. Sadly, for most people out there, church might be something you attend weekly or occasionally, but it doesn’t play a significant role in one’s life. In our busy and individualistic society, even the idea of the body of Christ, aka the church, is not taught or is ignored like many other things in God’s Word. However, the Bible does teach us that we are meant to be part of a body of believers and our lives are to lived in relationship with one another. In fact, the Bible has quite a few “one another” statements that we can’t possibly live out without being part of a body.
Here are just a few:
- Love one another
- Encourage one another
- Instruct one another
- Build up one another
- Greet one another
- Forgive one another
- Have compassion on one another
- Be kind to one another
I am thankful that we have a good number of people at Community Impact that are seeking to apply these things to their lives and live them out in the midst of a church family. I pray that more and more will come to understand the importance of these and will follow suit. It is always a beautiful witness and a testimony to God’s Word when Christians become more like Christ. May each of us have a desire to grow in our faith and walk like Jesus walked. To God be the glory, both now and forevermore!
From our neighborhoods to the nations,
Pastor Larry
