Saturday Ramblings

Saturday Ramblings

Good morning church and happy Saturday!

I hope that you have had a great week.  It has been a very busy week at the church, but it has been really good.  God blessed us by allowing us to witness someone making a decision for Christ in our new building.  For that, we praise God.  We are praying that would be the first of many people that would come to know Christ and that many others would be discipled in their faith.  Keep praying that God would use the people of CIC to advance the Gospel in our community and around the world.

Prayer Requests

Continue to pray for Susie Simpson and Pat Bell.

Pray for Bob Zoller as he is on a mission trip to India from September 18th thru October 2nd.

Pray for Pastor Manuel Estebane in Juarez, Mexico.  He has colon cancer and will be having surgery soon.

40 days of prayer – Please continue praying as we seek God’s direction and favor upon His church.

Outreach

Join us on Tuesday afternoon for visitation and outreach beginning at 4:30.  This week, we will hand out door hangers and postcards leading up to the Grand Opening. BTW, the postcards have now been mailed to 5,000 homes in our area. We still have 600 or 700 postcards for people to handout and/or mail to their friends and family.

Our Grand Opening Celebration is September 29th! 9:00 prayer service and 10:15 worship service in the morning, 5:00 international service, children and youth activities.  Take some of the postcards and use them to invite family and friends to attend.  We will have a special gift to give to everyone.

Wish book

Thank you to everyone that purchased items from the wish book. Your generosity is incredible. The building looks fantastic and we are well-equipped to do ministry!

Ramblings

When is the last time that you have been overwhelmed by God?  As I have been spending a lot of time in our new building I have been overwhelmed with how incredible it is that God is allowing us to use that space.  It really is a wonderful building and it is looking fantastic.  Beyond that, the visible location gives us many more opportunities than we have had in the past.  Every day, many people walk by on their way to one of the stores in the shopping center.  Quite often they look up at our gigantic sign and many look in the windows as they go by.  We have had people stop by to ask about the church.  Earlier this week, one man made a decision for Christ.  It is overwhelming that God is giving us such opportunity to impact a community with His glorious Gospel.  As a church we have so much potential to live out our mission to love God, love others, impact our community and change the world.  And that potential comes from God Himself.  Yes, it helps that we have a great building and a highly visible location.  But our mission would be rather audacious if it were not for the power of God.  He is the One that can and, I believe, will enable us to accomplish it.  I am overwhelmed at the incredible people that God has drawn together to form the body known as Community Impact Church.  We have a great church made up of some committed and genuine followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.  I am so thankful that God has given me an opportunity to pastor this church.  It is beyond me why He would have chosen me for such a task.  I am grateful to God for you.  In my quiet time, early in the morning, alone in the sanctuary, I was overwhelmed reflecting upon the grace and mercy of God.  What a beautiful thing it is that God cares for us.  He loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for us.  As Romans 5:8 declares, “God demonstrated His love for us in this: while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  What an incredible truth from God’s Word!

Typically, we think of being overwhelmed as a bad thing.  Especially if it is worry, stress, negative thoughts, debt or something like that.  But to sense the presence of God in a mighty way and to be moved to tears…that is a wonderful thing.  May I urge you to spend some time alone with God this week?  Find a place without distraction, go to Him in prayer, ask Him to speak to your heart, and prepare to be overwhelmed by Him.

May God truly bless and lead you in all ways.  As imperfect as we may be, God loves us with an everlasting love and is seeking to help us to become like Jesus.

You are loved,

Pastor Larry
